Centre of Excellence

Our school's endeavor, known as the Centre of Excellence, embodies our unwavering commitment to enhancing the education of hearing-impaired students. This government-funded project, which commenced in December 2021 and concluded in March 2023, aimed to create a transformative impact. The core principle underlying this initiative is the significance of early detection, identification, and intervention for those with hearing disabilities. By focusing on these crucial elements, we aimed to elevate our school to become the leading special school for the deaf in South India.

Our vision encompasses a comprehensive approach to address the needs of hearing-impaired individuals. From early detection and follow-up procedures to counseling, provision of hearing aids, repairs, mold making, and speech therapy, our aim is to establish a supportive hub that caters to every aspect of the hearing-impaired journey.

Additionally, recognizing the importance of a well-rounded education, we strived to formulate and implement meticulous plans encompassing both academic and physical development. This holistic strategy ensures that each phase of the students' educational journey is thoughtfully nurtured and guided.

Developments

With the budget provided and goals set, we tried our very best to ensure that the new developments help our students flourish on their journey of learning. This year, we undertook several initiatives to foster this growth.

Conceptualization Workshops: This program is a game-changer! It allows our children to visualize ideas and develop understanding through practical models. Not only does it bolster their cognitive skills, but it also empowers them with the ability to think critically and innovate. This foundation will be invaluable throughout their lives.
Outreach Programs: Building bridges with the community and creating awareness about hearing impairment is vital. This initiative fosters understanding, empathy, and inclusivity. Our children also develop better self-confidence and a sense of belonging to a larger community.
Technology-Assisted Learning: Embracing technology ensures our children are at par with their hearing counterparts. It offers them a visual-based learning approach, making lessons more interactive and engaging. This also prepares them for a future where tech proficiency is essential.
Special Sports Camps: Physical activity is indispensable. Through sports, our children improve their physical health, teamwork, and social skills. They also learn about dedication, discipline, and the joy of achievement, all while having fun.
Twinning Programmes: By partnering with other institutions, our children get the chance to interact and learn from diverse environments. This promotes adaptability, broadens horizons, and nurtures a sense of unity and collaboration.
Strengthening Infrastructure: A conducive environment is the key to effective learning. By bolstering our infrastructure, we provide safer, more accessible, and tailored learning spaces for our children, ensuring they can focus purely on their growth.
Pre-Vocational Trainings: It's crucial that our children are prepared for the world outside. This program equips them with essential life and job skills, ensuring they're not just academically ready, but also for future career challenges.
Horticultural Gardening: Nurturing plants is akin to nurturing minds. Through gardening, our kids learn patience, responsibility, and the value of hard work. It’s therapeutic and provides a firsthand experience of the wonders of nature.
Exposure Trips: The world is a classroom! These trips provide practical experiences and broaden our children’s understanding of the world around them. They also boost their social skills and make learning more fun and memorable.
Software Installations: Today's world is driven by technology. By installing educational software, we ensure our children remain updated with current tools. This enhances their learning experience and prepares them for a tech-savvy future.
Medical Camp and Assistive Device Supply: Health is wealth! Regular medical check-ups ensure our children’s well-being. Providing assistive devices further levels the playing field, allowing them to access and interact with the world more efficiently.
